About

The Story

Late at night, on a dark country road, you receive a message from Jane. She wants to meet you at the megalithic stone circle on Banner Hill. Strange things happen there after dark — and tonight is no different.

Shadow over Banner Hill is a first-person investigation game inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. It asks a simple question: do you play it safe, or take a step into the unknown?

Aesthetic

The world is built around a restricted two-to-four colour palette, silhouette-first character design, and a graphic-novel UI overlay — inspired by the moody, low-poly atmosphere of games like Dredge. Post-processing — deep vignettes, film grain, and restrained bloom — keeps the tone dark and unsettling without sacrificing legibility.

Development

The game is built in Unity 6 (LTS) and targets WebGL, making it playable directly in the browser without the need for a download. The UI is driven by a clean Model-View-Controller architecture, with all narrative data — suspect profiles, dialogue, and clues — stored as ScriptableObjects, keeping the design and code cleanly separated.

The Team

Shadow over Banner Hill is an independent project created by Frank Lynam, a seasoned developer and designer with a passion for atmospheric storytelling and interactive experiences.
